It is possible to exclude shipping charges for some items in the web store. In order to add free shipping, navigate to System > Shipping Setup > Item Settings.

Search for the item and toggle on Free Shipping.

Click Apply to save your changes.

The Free Shipping option will be displayed as one of the shipping methods on the checkout screen.
